CSMGEP Call for Papers 2008

AEA Session, New Orleans AEA/ASSA Meetings, January 2008

The Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession (CSMGEP) plans to sponsor a dissertation session at the upcoming AEA/ASSA meetings to be held in New Orleans, January 4-6, 2008.

Eligible participants are asked to submit:

  • A one-page abstract of the paper to be presented. The paper must be part of on-going or recently-completed dissertation work.
  • A brief letter of recommendation from the dissertation chair.
  • The dissertation defense date—preference will be given to candidates who have completed or plan to complete the dissertation defense between October 1, 2006 and May 31, 2008.

Travel expenses for the participants chosen as panelists will be provided by CSMGEP and will cover the costs of attending the entire conference including: the registration fee for the annual meetings, round-trip airfare, three nights at a conference hotel,  per diem of $38 for up to four days, and transportation expenses to and from the airport. Costs of AEA membership will not be included.

Note: The exact date and time of the dissertation session will be determined by the AEA and will be announced in the preliminary program, usually by July 1.
