Dr. Greg Price - Candidate for NEA President Elect Dr. Price is Director of the Mississippi Urban Research Center, and Professor of Economics at Jackson State University. A native of New Haven Connecticut, Dr. Price completed his undergraduate and graduate work at Morehouse College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee respectively. His current research interests include the effects of religiosity on economic behavior, the empirics of social capital and racial stigma, income distribution and redistribution, and the intergenerational effects of slavery. A former Program Director for Economics at the National Science Foundation, and outgoing board member of the National Economic Association, Dr. Price’s research has appeared in a wide variety of journals including Review of Black Political Economy, Review of Development Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, and the South African Journal of Economics.
Dr. John Baffoe - Candidate for NEA Board Dr. Baffpe is a Professor of Economics at Pennsylvania State University, Delaware County Campus Division of Business and Economics Commonwealth College 25 Years Mill Road Media, PA 19063 B.A., University of Ghana; M.A. and Ph.D. at Dalhousie University, Canada. Scholarly/Research Interests: Intertemporal labor supply behavior and labor market segmentation. Macroeconomic modeling and stabilization policies in developing countries. Pricing and output policies of regulated industries. Recipient of Outstanding Teacher Award in 1994. Joined campus faculty in 1988. Ph.D., Dalhousie University, Canada.
Dr. Cecilia Rouse - Candidate for NEA Board Dr. Rouse is currently a professor economics and public affairs at Princeton University. Her primary research and teaching interests are in labor economics with a particular focus on the economics of education. She has studied the economic benefit of community college attendance, evaluated the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, examined the effects of education inputs on student achievement, tested for the existence of discrimination in symphony orchestras, and studied unions in South Africa. Her current research evaluates Florida's school accountability and voucher programs and the effect of financial aid on college matriculation. In addition, she is currently conducting randomized evaluations of technology-based programs in schools in Hartford, CT and Milwaukee, WI, as well as a randomized evaluation of strategies for increasing educational attainment among community college students. She is also studying the impact of student loans on post-college occupational choices. Rouse is a senior editor of The Future of Children (a Princeton-Brooking publication) and an editor of the Journal of Labor Economics. She is the founding director of the Princeton University Education Research Section and currently the director of the Industrial Relations Section. She is also a member of the MacArthur Foundation's Research Network on the Transition to Adulthood. In 1998-99 she served a year in the White House at the National Economic Council. She received her Ph.D. Harvard University.
Dr. Lisa Saunders - Candidate for NEA Board Professor Saunders is a labor and transportation economist. Her teaching specializations include political economy of women, political economy of racism, labor economics and microeconomics. Her current research on the relationship between wage inequality and commute time to work, emphasizes transportation access (by race and gender) to jobs, child care and other family services. Professor Saunders is associated faculty in the Center for Labor Research and the Women’s Studies department.
Dr. Ashagre A. Yigletu - Candidate for NEA Board Dr. Ashagre is Professor of Economics and Chair of the Department of Economics and Finance at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Yigletu holds a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in International Economics from Belgrade University. He has participated in the General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs (GATT) negotiations. Yigletu has participated in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Conferences of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He has actively participated in a negotiation rounds of EEC-ACP (European Community - African, Caribbean, and Pacific Countries). Yigletu has received funding for major projects from the Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund; U.S. Department of Education, Business and International Education, Title VI-B; United Negro College Fund Special Fund/ International Development Programs. These projects have assisted universities in Uganda, Armenia and Mexico to better understand changes taking place in international business and economic education.
