Jim Peoples , Ph.D, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
President

James Peoples is Professor of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley.  He was a 1988-1989 Ford Foundation Fellow at University of California at Berkeley and University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.  He was a visiting scholar at Northwestern University from 1996 to 1997.  He has served as a board member of the National Economics Association and is an L’Institute Fellow at the University of Ferrara, Italy.

His areas of specialty are applied microeconomics, regulation, privatization and labor economics.  He is a mentor for the AEA Pipeline Program. His articles have appeared in the Journal of Economics Perspectives, the Journal of Law and Economics, the Journal of Regulatory Economics, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, the Review of Black Political Economy, the American Economic Review Papers and Proceedings, as well as in other scholarly journals. He has (co)edited several books on regulatory reform and labor markets, as well as coauthored “Microeconomic Problems: Case Studies and Exercises for Review” with the late Edwin Mansfield.  Currently James is researching regulatory reform’s influence on shippers’ use of intermodal transportation services.
