Hazel L. Robinson
Senior Economist at the Food Safety and Inspection Service Agency United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC

Ms. Robinson conducts cost-benefit analyses of rules designed to keep the Nation’s meat supply safe for consumption. Hazel has served over 20 years in other Federal Government positions including International Trade Analyst (US International Trade Commission) and Economist (Federal Aviation Administration and Bureau of the Census). In 1979, Hazel was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army Reserves where she served 27 years, and recently retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Hazel graduated with honors after earning both a BA (1979) and MA (1986) in Economics from Howard University. Since then she has made a number of contributions to the University, most notably, she is one of the founding members of the Howard University Economics Department Alumni Association (HUEDAA), where she served the first four years as President. Under her leadership HUEDAA created the Senior Recognition Award, Graduate Travel Stipend Award, held career development and guest speaker seminars and endowed the Joseph R. Houchins Scholarship Fund and the Jean Louis DuCarmel Bocage Loan Fund for economic students attending Howard University. During Homecoming 2007, Hazel was recognized for her outstanding contributions to the University, as she became one of the first recipients of the HU College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Service Award.
