The National Economic Association will honor Dr. Margaret C. Simms on January 4, 2008 with the 2008 Samuel Z. Westerfield Award at the Allied Social Science Association (ASSA) meetings. The award will be presented on at a luncheon at the JW Marriott  Hotel in New Orleans, LA.

The Westerfield Award is named after the distinguished economist and former Ambassador to Liberia, Samuel Z. Westerfield. Established in 1973, it acknowledges outstanding scholarly achievements and public service by an African American economist.
